Wine Spectator

Since 2005, the respected American wine magazine “Wine Spectator” has ranked our wine cellar among the very best in the world, awarding Lysebu its “Best of Award of Excellence” classification. This is to wine cellars what the Michelin guide is to restaurants all over the world. In fact, the magazine has awarded this distinction to only 876 other restaurants in the world.

Review

Lysebu has one of the finest wine cellars in Norway today. As early as 1997, Lysebu was awarded the title of “Best wine list in Norway”. The judges’ decision stated:

“An impressive wine list … enviable and user-friendly low mark-up … good breadth and great vintages from excellent producers.”

  • 1982 Bordeaux at Lysebu
  • Tasteful anniversary at Lysebu
  • The most sought-after wine in the world
  • Lysebu top-ranked for wine

From water to wine

Wine cellar

In an underground catacomb

“Wine needs to be stored in a cool, dark place,”

explains our restaurant manager. So there was great rejoicing when Lysebu established its own wine cellar in 1996 – a place to store 4,500 bottles of high-quality wine. The cellar was literally built into the old well on the property, and it was linked to an underground passage that runs between the old and new sections of Lysebu.
